bon repos Rr Blavet sun 08 04 07

Its not often that I get to fish on three consecutive days but heading towards the Bon Repos stretch of the Blavet this sunday morning felt like heaven, A beautiful part of the river, beautiful morning, Heather more than content as there is a traditional french market just up the road. The only downside was a few twinges of stomach pain which I was confident would go later. Heather dropped me off at my swim and the river looked spot on , if just a little quick. I decided to pole fish for roach, loose feeding caster and hemp at 12 metres I set up a 1.5 gram jolly 012 mainline to 08 . Almost unbelievable! 1 hr in not a touch. Heather arrived back and still nothing . Just to add to my woe , stomach pain increasing now and then. Then voila ! first fish ! a tiny roach
followed almost immediately by another. Was this a start! Absolutely not. I struggled and scratched around in the slacker water at 9 metres for 5 roach 1 skimmer and a bleak . A small pike was following the fish in. I began to get the " not my day " feeling when this was confirmed by searing stomach pain bad enough to force me to pack up. Heather had to drive me home and I was ill for three days. think I over indulged the mussels and found a bad un.
